BNI Balham today - South London's premier business networking breakfast reports in!
It was a great meeting today! We had two visitors, a presentation from our creative team on marketing the chapter and a superb ten-minute presentation from Sally Bevan on how the law affects how we do business.
Firstly, a big welcome to Jennifer Cordero who runs PureYogaZone and visited us as a contact of Naomi Thorley, and John Simmonds of JM Simmonds, a furniture designer and maker, who visited as a contact of Brigitte Halliday.
Our chapter Director, Lee Alley, gave praise to Liam Johnston and Andy Mayar who have done stellar work s the first in a last out as visitor hosts. We're looking for replacements for them when their time is up at the end of March.
Brigitte and Simon Carbery, members of our creative team, presented on ideas they've put together to advertise the chapter and BNI to people who walk past The Regent during the meeting. We have quotes on pull-up banners and are looking at A2 posters for the windows conveying quick, but subtle, messages promoting the chapter ("Do you have too much business? NO? We can change that..."). More to come....
Sally Bevan, the chapter's Intellectual Property Lawyer, presented the 10 minute slot today on how the law affects your business and how that can be good or bad. contracts are the most important side of that, whether having proper terms and conditions or specific contract terminology. Going to market with uncertain contract terms can be the difference between success and failure with difficult clients.
Todays results for BNI Balham were 15 referrals and £7695 of business passed between members.
