‘The customer is always right’ proved a winning motto for estate agency, Samuel Estates, which just scooped an award for providing the Best Customer Service in the whole of South London.

Samuel Estates, based in Colliers Wood, won the prestigious trophy at the South London Business Awards, which were held in association with HSBC and organised by South London Business.

Paul Ahearn, Operations Director, said: “This is absolutely awesome,” he said. “We’ve won this award because of our staff, who have all contributed by making sure we put the customer first.”

The award was presented in front of an invited audience of 500 business men and woman at the South London Business Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony held at the Park Plaza Riverbank on Thursday, June 23rd.

Samuel Estates, which won the same category in the 2010 Merton Business Awards, is a small estate agency specialising in Colliers Wood, Wimbledon, Tooting, Earlsfield, Balham Clapham and Putney. It has just eight staff and promises a hands-on approach with a personal touch.

Tina Oakley from award sponsor Gatwick Airport, who presented the award, said: “The judges were impressed with how the company dealt with both new business enquiries and managed existing customers.”

Other Merton companies honoured on the night included Kid Stop who were commended for Best Business for Sustainability and Julia Boggio who was commended for Entrepreneur of the Year.

Carole Bagnald, regional commercial director London for HSBC, which supported the awards, said the bank was passionate about the need to support small to medium sized businesses, as the ‘business leaders of the future’.

I moved to London from Zimbabwe back in 2003. My business career began at Ernst & Young in accountancy and continued in the advertising industry at Bartle, Bogle, Hegarty. The last property I rented happened to be through Samuel Estates. A year later the company was expanding and I was keen for a new challenge and opportunity so I approached Nick Samuel and offered my services to help run and develop the business. I joined Samuel Estates in April 2007 and have not looked back.
